As with any other review, we all want to know – is The Pensters legit? It is, and it isn’t. You will likely receive a paper from it, but it won’t be even near to what you expect. This writing service is not unique in offering a bidding system for choosing a writer on your own, and it certainly isn’t the first one to surprise customers with shitty quality and unpleasant experience.

Info Thepensters.com: Service Evaluation

The Pensters I will be reviewing today is not to be confused with The Pensters Writing Group, created in 1965 with an aim to improve the writing skills and to help promote marketing of its member’s works. This writing service, however, has only been 2 years on the market, and it was definitely named so to attract more customers and help it to get a better position in the search results.

On the site, the service is positioned as the only place where you can place an order and choose the most suiting writer based on the bids they make. Well, that’s utter bullshit, as this is nothing new in the writing services world. So, in this Pensters review, I will explore whether this site is at least a decent representative of this approach.

Info Benefits and Limitations

PROS:

  • A free citation generator

CONS:

  • A bad online reputation
  • A poorly organized bidding process
  • A low-quality of writing
  • Customer support is not helpful

Info Web Reputation

Considering the age of the company, it makes sense that Trustpilot had no reviews, and Sitejabber only had four, which all say different things. So, that’s not enough to make a definite conclusion.

One of those comments, however, was not about the writing service but about The Pensters essay competition. The comment was left by a girl who won the third place but did not receive her prize, despite trying to contact The Pensters for two months and being promised to be paid soon.

You can even see her name and essay still posted on the site, even though she asked to remove it unless they pay her. I suspect that this whole competition was another way to make people think this was The Pensters Fairhope-based group which holds a similar contest.

I still searched for some comments on the writing service itself to have a full picture and was able to find some feedback. Unlike the customer comments on The Pensters’ site, each and all praising its writers (obviously), almost every other post I found was thrashing the service for a confusing and time-consuming bidding process, awful texts written in poor English, sometimes impossible to understand, and the lack of customer support in dealing with writers.

Info Assurances

Basically, the money-back guarantee is based on the fact that you are not paying the author until you receive the whole paper or its part. You do transfer the funds when you hire a writer, but they are not released to him/her until you approve the work. Once you do or if 14 days pass and the order is automatically considered approved, there are no refunds.

Info Thepensters: Service Varieties

The Pensters offer a classic array of writing services, from essays to dissertation chapters. The “Other” line in the list of selecting the type of a paper also suggests that the writers might be willing to work on papers not mentioned here. And I believe they will agree to write anything, as long as you pay for it, without necessarily having the appropriate knowledge or experience for it.

Info How to Order

So, the ordering process is quite typical for sites using the bidding approach. First, you complete the order form, just like with any other writing service. And while usually you would be pretty much done now, here, you have to spend time waiting for bids, and then choose the writer you like the best and who has the best offer. The bidding approach has its advantages when done right. The Pensters, however, is not one of those cases.

Info The Pensters: Pricing Details

It’s said that prices start at $9 per page, but since they are set by authors themselves, the final price can be anything. Some writers will be willing to work for less just to be chosen, but they will probably try to get as many orders as possible to still earn the money they want, so that can influence the quality. Others will set a higher price than they should, knowing that many visitors will think it guarantees they will get a great paper.

There are no discounts since you can find the best price yourself in the process, duh.

Info Overall Paper Quality

The Pensters review would be incomplete if I didn’t place an order myself. Which I did, went through the dumb bidding process, chose a writer with an average bid, and got a crappy paper that was beyond any criticism.

There are rare reviews from those who got lucky and were satisfied with what they got here, I cannot join them. The paper was obviously a poor rewrite of some other work with a similar topic, some sentences seemed out of place, and the amount of mistakes was abysmal.

Info Thepensters Review: Client Assistance

Until you create an account, you can only reach the customer support by sending an email, which they won’t hurry to answer. After registering, they will be accessible via a live chat, but since you have direct communication with your author, there is little customer support is responsible for, and their agents are of little to no help solving any issues. That is, when you can reach them.

Info Extra Service Deals

There are a couple of free tools, The Pensters plagiarism checker and the citation generator. The latter is quite neat, but it should not be a problem for you if you have a proper example as you still need to enter everything manually.

As for the plagiarism checker, it’s free to use, but you’ll have to pay for a report if it detects any plagiarism. What the hell?!

Oh, and when I pasted the essay of one of the contest winners published on The Pensters’ website, it showed no plagiarism. So yeah, not that free or helpful after all.
